Really thick hair!?

I have really think curly wavy hair. If I dont do anything to it, it looks like i have an afro, its not too attractive...ahah.

I straighten it most of the time but when i leave for work early in the morning, somthings in the air, and well it gets all poofy. You know the look of someone who tried to straighten their hair, but it didnt work out....ya thats what it looks like.

So although i leave the house fine, it gets big. Not curly or wavy...just big.

what can i do to help that?

are their any home recipes i can use? im kinda stuk doing work righ now and cant leave the house..

thanks for your help!!

Really thick hair!?

I have super thick hair too...and the trick I've learned is that I have to use a hair straightening system in order to keep my hair from poofing out.

I use Matrix. They have a system in orange bottles called sleek and smooth. You use the shampoo and conditioner, and then when your hair is still wet, there's a cream you put in your hair that works an anti-frizz, and a straightening cream. Then I let my hair air-dry. (Don't blow-dry, it makes it ten times poofier) Then I straighten it, using straightening spray. Even when it rains or is really humid, my hair doesn't poof anymore. The only thing that sucks is that I can only wash my hair like twice a week, since it takes so long to get it to act right (which my stylist recommended anyway--when you wash your hair everyday, you strip oils out of it, and with really thick hair, it makes it harder to tame). Good luck!

i have the exact same problem and asked a question on here for a great straightener everyone suggested a chi. I got one today and it kept my hair perfect. Put some silk therapy on your hair when wet blow dry then straighten

Good luck

Really thick hair!?

I used to have the same problem as you did. I went for a haircut, and they thinned it for me. She cut it with a razor ( i think its called), so it was wasn't so thick, and believe you me... it was wayyyy easier to handle. It took less time to blow dry and especially straighten.

As for the poofy problem, I use John Frieda's Anti-Frizz serum and it has thermal protection too, so its like a sunscreen for your hair when straightening, blowdrying, etc. I use that and L'Oreal Hot! Straigtening creme when my hair is damp. I blowdry making sure the air is blowing downwards (to help with frizz), then I straighten it.

When I straighten it I section my hair into 2 parts, top and bottom. This just helps keep the kinks out of my hair for longer. And if you hair is really wavy like mine, I would suggest Sunsilk's Straighten-up (in a purple bottle).

Good luck!! Hope this helped!

Really thick hair!?

I had that hair too but not anymore...

I wash, leave the conditioner in and use mousse, gel and hairspray (lots). the gel and hairspray keeps your hair from flying away and frizzing up it works for me...
